Pawel from Poland.

For the last two evenings, we have been privileged to have an old friend of Bryan's visit us from Poland. This was my first-time meeting Pawel, although I have heard many stories, and he is charming. He is really kind, funny, and easy to get along with. It has been a treat to have him join us for dinner.

Tonight was the first time the boys were able to meet him. (To their disappointment, they had fallen asleep before Pawels arrival Wednesday evening.) It was lovely to watch them interact. My rather bashful children were, well, not so bashful. Or maybe their bashfulness lasted only for a couple of seconds. Oscar shook Pawel's hand, made eye contact, and said "nice to meet you." Angus was eager to do the same, and nearly threw his hand out to shake Pawels.

While I finished making dinner, the boys pulled out almost every dinosaur and monster that we own and their latest paintings to show our guest. They were so excited for him to see their most prized possessions and creations. At dinner the boys ate and behaved so well. Oscar was continually saying, "Hey Pawel, Can I tell ya somepin...?" So adorable. I loved watching them share. I could tell they instantly liked Pawel, which was completely understandable.

Pawel joined us for part of the boys bedtime routine. We all crowded in the boys room, while I read them books. (Initially Oscar asked if Pawel would read the books, but then changed his mind at the last second.) Oscar was adamant that I show Pawel every picture on the pages we read. Then Bryan and Pawel left, and even Angus said in his sweet voice, "Bye Pawel."

After scripture and prayer, just as I turned out the light Oscar whispered to me "Mom, I am so glad that I made a new friend today. I want to make lots and lots and lots of new friends."

Then we sang "Bushel and a Peck." My boys sweet voices drifted with mine in the dark, and joined together for a precious "Doodle-doodle-doodle-doooo" at the end.

How fun!! I loved Pawel! He was lots of fun to be around. It's no wonder that your boys took to him so quickly.
