This pregnancy is reaching the home stretch. I am 38 weeks, and starting to feel it more more each day. Bending over is becoming super awkward. My "fast" exercise walking pace is so slow! My hips and lower back are starting to whine at me. My weight gain is rapidly increasing, which is very normal for me late in my pregnancies. I am up to 45 lbs, and this past week gained 3 lbs. Yep, normal for me. I feel I have to tug down on my maternity shirts, and up on my pants to make sure my stretched marked belly does not peek out and scare somebody.
I am still trying to stay as active as possible, lifting weights, walking, playing tag with the boys (I am easy to catch though), mowing lawns. I am so grateful for the energy I do have. Though my sleep patterns are becoming totally whacked, I can only assume in preparation for the whacked out sleep schedule that accompanies having a newborn. But honestly this pregnancy, like my first two, have been really great and I have never felt much need to complain. I am thankful for that and know it is not that way for all women.
The boys and I had an incredibly active and fun summer. My maternity swimsuit is begging for me to throw it away. So many days in the chlorine this summer have eaten through that thing! The swim shorts which once sat below my butt, now sag all the way down to my knees. We are still trying to eek in a couple days of swimming before the pool closes for good or the baby comes, whichever happens first. I hope my suit does not disintegrate before that point!
We have also been busy with lots of projects around the house and yard. And we are hoping to squeeze in a few more before baby arrives.
This kid moves a ton! He feels strong too. I swear he can punch my bladder, kick my spine, and butt-slam my ribs all at the same time. It is so funny to feel him push his butt and spine one direction, while kicking his feet out the other side of my belly. Crazy belly contortions are what we all see. Even though sometimes his movements are slightly on the painful side, I absolutely love this part of being pregnant. Feeling that baby move inside your belly is incredible. It seems at times I can even feel his little fingers moving around.
We are all excited to meet this little boy, and maybe a little nervous too. So many emotions are involved with the expecting of a new baby, good thing the majority of them are really really good ones.
