This quote (Thanks Lisa Haight Stott) really sums up the emotions I have been feeling as Oscar's first day of school loomed closer. But thankfully his first day when really well. And so did his second. And so did his third. Hopefully that pattern will just continue! (Even though in all motherly selfishness I would much rather have my kids with me always.)
We were all kind of nervous on his first day. But we got up early, got ourselves ready for the new adventure and hopped on our bikes as a family to ride Oscar to school. It was a pretty special morning to experience together. After we snapped some before school pics I gave the camera to our resident photographer, Angus (man that kid LOVES to take pictures!). Angus sat in the Chariot carrier and photo-documented our ride to school. All the pics yo see of us on bike were taken by him. Thanks Angus!
Once at school, we locked our bikes up and waited for the bell while kids swirled around us. Bryan said goodbye when the bell rang and headed to work. Angus and I walked the big kindergarten boy into class and hung out for a bit while Oscar got a bit more acclimated. Oscar held himself together well, even though I could tell he was sort of silently freaking out inside. He just kept looking around the classroom trying to observe all he could, and soak things in. We said our goodbyes, and I said a silent prayer in my heart that his first day would be successful. I am glad that prayer was answered.
Here are some pictures of "Oscar's First Day of School Morning Adventure!"
Morning goofies. Oscar current favorite silly face. Thanks for teaching him cousin Luke. |

Do they look officially freaked? Yep. |
Bryan and Oscar have been able to ride to school together pretty much all this week. They plan to do that as long as the weather is good enough for Oscar to ride. Oscar has been so excited about it because he "gets to spend more time with Dad." It is so sweet watching them ride off together, and Angus and I enjoy riding him home from school together. Funny side story, in the last three days Oscar's bike has gotten 4 flat tires! Bryan has been fixing flats every night this week, different holes on the same tire. When the 4th patch blew this morning we threw in the towel and picked up some heavy duty 5 x thicker slime tubes. Goodness!
