After 7 days of researching, unplugging wires, plugging wires back in, buying parts, returning parts, getting shocked testing electrical outlets, we finally concluded that our originally $50 craigs-listed dryer we purchased 4 years ago was never gonna heat again.
So we bought another $50 craigs-listed dryer. To be quite honest during our married life we have never bought a major appliance new. We like to buy things pre-loved, I guess. That, or we can't get past the sticker shock of the brand new stuff.
Once the "new" dryer was installed and working on a wet load of laundry, we dismembered the old one. Bryan stripped that dryer down! He took of every screw, nut, bolt, wire, electrical piece, etc. from it, and added them to his parts and hardware collection (hey, you never know when you might find a use for it).

Dismembered dryer and furnace. We replaced the furnace last April (with a pre-owned energy efficient one). We just now got around to getting rid of it. And yes, Bryan stripped the furnace down for parts too. |
Perfectly coiffed round lint balls! We went berserk at the weird beauty of these furry lint balls! They will most likely end up on display somewhere in our home. For real.
It is so great to be able to do laundry on our normal schedule again. I really am so spoiled to have a working washer and dryer right inside my home. I know it is pretty common, but it doesn't make in any less of a blessing.
Now go on, give your dryer some love...and maybe one day it will cough up some perfectly coiffed lint balls for you too.

I'm a little shocked that Bry isn't keeping the shell of the drier. He could use it for something. . . If not for an upcoming Halloween costume. He can find a use for everything!!!
I love the lint balls. They look like little wool felted balls meant for a quirky jar on a shelf. And remind me a little of the Schwetty Balls sketch on SNL. What a good gift from your dryer.
