Oscar with a Nutella-tash |
Tale One: My children are pretty reserved initially. In large crowds they tend to set up camp huddling right around my legs. They must reach a state of comfort before venturing out into the crowd. Yesterday we were at an indoor play place. There was a boy that we had never met before playing there too. As he and Oscar headed into the entry tunnel at the same time I overheard Oscar say, "Hi! My name is Oscar. I know lots of interesting things about dinosaurs." Shortly after coming down the slide Oscar ran over to me and whispered happily in my ear, "Mom! I just made a friend." I looked at him, smiled, and whispered back "I am so proud of you buddy." I was, and I am, really proud of him.
Tale Two: This morning at about 5 AM Oscar woke me up. He had wet the bed. I helped him get cleaned up and put dry jammies on. Then he climbed back in bed with us. I laid on my back next to him, my left arm was resting to the side of his body. I felt his hand grab my arm,
"Would you like me to move my arm Oscar?" I asked.
"No," he began to reply, "but, can you to hold my hand though?"
"You betcha buddy."
I grabbed his hand and we drifted back off to sleep.
