Cinnamon Tacos.

I boiled the chicken, trying to speed up the preparations for dinner. It was already 5:25 on Friday night and people in this house were getting hungry! My hands nearly burned as I tried to shred the HOT, fresh from the pot chicken, but I persevered. Once fully shredded I placed it in the pan, taco seasoning time. Reaching into the spice cupboard I hastily pulled out the large container, spun off the lid, and doused the meat in flavor.

At that exact instant, horror flooded to my heart and my eyes bulged. "OH CRAP!!!" I screamed.

My chicken was brown, covered in thick coat of CINNAMON. I thought I had grabbed the Taco seasoning, I thought the container had a shaker top. I WAS WRONG. It was the expensive cinnamon that I grabbed, with no shaker top. Nearly one full cup of cinnamon wasted on shredded chicken! Chicken that was meant for tacos.

As soon as I could think straight I grabbed my strainer, dumped in the chicken, ran to the sink and sprayed off the fragrant spice. Once the freshly washed chicken was back in the pan I attempted to fix my mistake by adding a bunch of taco seasoning. Sadly, every time I tasted the chicken all my palate could decipher was the flavor of cinnamon. Ugh.

With the clock approaching 6 PM, it was time for plan B. I pulled out a large tupperware and made sure all the chicken was safe inside. (I would try to be creative with this uniquely spiced chicken tomorrow, when I wasn't racing against the fury of growling bellies.) After putting the chicken in the fridge, I decided to take the easy way out. I picked up the phone and ordered a pizza.

Nobody complained about that.

Haha! So funny, and so sad. Dinner stress is always the worst.
