The other afternoon I was talking to Oscar about the importance of keeping his toys organized (lately he insists that ALL his dinosaurs and cars need to be squeezed into one overflowing box together). It was when I said to him, "Similar things must go together. Dinosaurs don't live with cars ,and cars don't live with dinosaurs," the thought hit me, "Am I teaching my child how to organize or how to segregate?" Because if segregation is the principle he learns from this, I would rather the cars and dinosaurs remain in the same basket.
