Written for the chickens.

Dear chickens,

So I realize your coop is not quite finished yet. You have been good to put up with mediocre rabbit hutch housing for a while now. For your patience, we thank you.

Life is not so bad, right? Food and water within 'wings' reach. You are free to roam in the yard as you please. We even save all our compostable kitchen scraps special just for you. Plus, we never ask you to clean up your own crap.

Hope you like it here,

Rich family

Dear Chicken that laid the shell-less egg,

Um, that was really gross.
It gave me nightmares.
Don't do it again.

Slightly freaked out,
Helen

Dear Egg Eater,

If I find you pecking at, and eating another one of your "roommates" fresh laid eggs again...
I will eat you...on the spot.

For reals (not fakes),

Helen

I heard that the first few eggs a chicken makes are often shell-less or really soft shelled. Poor girl, maybe she's just learning how to do this whole egg laying thing.

I think it would be kinda challenging. Glad I don't have to do it.

Not a chicken,
Ann

I should be a bit more understanding of the hens, you are right :) This shell less egg, was a surprise, she has been laying 'regulars', so it caught me off guard...glad I am not a chicken either...
